The recent disclosure of Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) chair Dr. Benjamin Reyes on the numbers of surrendering drug users and pushers in Central Luzon showed 3,107 total surrenderers from Angeles City since the start of the Duterte presidency in July 2016.
With a total of 129,217 surrenderers in Region 3, Bulacan leads with a total of 37, 266. Followed by Nueva Ecija with 27, 552; Pampanga, 22479; Tarlac, 15,329; Bataan, 9,911 Zambales, 8,025 and Aurora, 3,356.
It was also stated that the amount of confiscated methamphetamine hydrochloride in 2016 has reached to P55.8 Billion.
Reyes stressed that the after care program of the Department of Health is an investment on the surrenderers’ rehabilitation and recovery.
Department of Health Secretary Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial stated that the anti-dangerous drug summit is aimed at further strengthening the strategies of LGUs while acknowledging the proper handling of surrenderers imparted by the national agencies.
The drug surrenderers are taught group dynamic activities, psycho-educational lectures and meditations as part of their rehabilitation program at the Mega Drug Abuse Treatment and rehabilitation Center in Palayan, Nueva Ecija
